The Office of Hon’ble Mr. Justice M.M. Sundresh, Judge, Supreme Court of India, invites applications for its Judicial Internship Programme for August 2026 and September 2026. Selected interns work closely with the judge’s office and, as a result, gain direct exposure to judicial research, legal drafting, case analysis, and the functioning of India’s highest court.

About the Internship

This internship gives law students a rare, close-up view of how judicial reasoning develops at the Supreme Court level. In particular, interns assist with legal research on matters listed before the Court, support case analysis, and help prepare structured briefs on complex legal questions. Because of this hands-on exposure, the experience suits students planning careers in litigation, constitutional law, academia, or judicial clerkships.

Areas of Exposure

  • Constitutional Law
  • Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence
  • Supreme Court Practice and Procedure
  • Judicial Research
  • Legal Writing and Brief Preparation
  • Case Law Analysis

Key Responsibilities

Selected interns will conduct legal research on constitutional and statutory issues, prepare case briefs and legal summaries, and analyse precedents relevant to pending matters. In addition, they will assist in compiling research materials for judicial consideration. Overall, these tasks sharpen analytical writing skills and, at the same time, introduce interns to a professional judicial research environment.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Students in the 4th year or final year of a 5-year B.A. LL.B. (or equivalent) programme
  • Students in the 2nd year (4th semester) or final year of a 3-year LL.B. programme

Important Dates

  • August 2026 Internship: Application deadline – 10 July 2026
  • September 2026 Internship: Application deadline – 10 August 2026

Since the office runs two overlapping cycles, applicants should clearly indicate their preferred internship month while applying.

Selection Process

Shortlisting is based on academic merit. Following this, candidates undergo a typed brief-making exercise, which forms the final stage of selection. Once selected, candidates are contacted approximately two weeks before the internship begins. Because attendance is mandatory in person, selected interns must participate in court observation and research work under the supervision of the judicial office.

How to Apply

Applications are accepted only through the official Google Form below. Therefore, make sure to apply well before the deadline, since late submissions cannot be considered.
