The JSW Centre for the Future of Law Internship offers law students an opportunity to gain practical research experience at NLSIU, Bengaluru. The programme is a full-time, in-person internship where student researchers work with faculty and the Centre’s research team on ongoing research projects, datasets and policy initiatives.
The internship runs on a rolling, monthly basis. Moreover, successful interns receive a ₹15,000 stipend and a certificate of completion.
About the Internship
The JSW Centre for the Future of Law was established in 2024 at NLSIU, Bengaluru, with support from the JSW Foundation. The Centre focuses on academic learning, research and policy discussions involving law, technology and legal system reform.
Its work covers several areas, including health and regulation, environmental law, corporate governance and emerging technologies. In addition, the Centre examines how new technologies may affect the legal system, legal profession and legal education.
The internship gives student researchers an opportunity to work closely with faculty members and the Centre’s research team. Interns may contribute to ongoing projects, datasets and policy initiatives.
This is an in-person, full-time programme at the NLSIU campus. Interns must work for at least 40 hours per week, and the programme does not allow remote participation.
The programme begins in May 2026 and operates on a monthly basis. Each cycle starts on the first working day of the month and ends on the last working day.
Because the internship requires full-time campus attendance, applicants should undertake it during their term breaks. Students with concurrent academic or other commitments cannot participate.
During the internship, Student Researchers may assist with legal and interdisciplinary research. They can also support data collection, coding, annotation and basic quantitative or qualitative analysis.
The role also includes work on AI and law projects, such as evaluating LLM outputs, designing prompts and preparing datasets. In addition, interns may help prepare literature reviews, research memos, reports and working papers.
Depending on project requirements, interns may also support workshops, lectures and conferences. They may further assist with administrative and coordination tasks related to research projects.
