IICA Internship 2026: Eligibility, Stipend & Application Process
The IICA internship offers students and young professionals an opportunity to gain practical experience in corporate affairs, law, policy, finance, governance, insolvency, and related fields. The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) operates under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.
IICA Internship
IICA provides full-time internships through its Schools, Centres, and Departments. Law students can apply to areas such as Corporate Law, Competition Law, Corporate Governance, Insolvency and Bankruptcy, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Regulatory Governance.
The programme also covers areas such as CSR, ESG, sustainability, finance, management, technology, AI governance, MSMEs, and business and human rights. Interns work on ongoing research, projects, and capacity-building activities under the guidance of an assigned supervisor.
IICA generally offers up to 10 internships each month. The number can increase to 15 with approval from the competent authority.
Eligibility
The IICA internship is open to full-time students from recognised institutions. Law students pursuing either a three-year or five-year LL.B. can apply, with preference for final-year students.
Students from other fields can also apply. These include social sciences, economics, commerce, finance, management, public policy, information technology, environmental sciences, AI, cybersecurity, and other related disciplines.
Young professionals can apply if they completed their studies within the last six months. They must not have another job at the time of application. Final-semester students working on an applied research project, capstone study, or dissertation for at least 20 weeks can also apply.
Duration
The minimum internship period is one month. IICA can extend an internship up to a maximum of six months, depending on the recommendation of the Internal Selection Committee and the requirements of the relevant IICA vertical.
The internship may start on any day of the month. IICA may also allow hybrid work, depending on the decision of the competent authority.
Internship Areas
IICA offers internships across several corporate and public-policy areas. For law students, the most relevant options include Corporate Law and Compliance, Competition Law, Corporate Governance, Insolvency and Bankruptcy, Regulatory Governance, and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
The internship can involve legal research, policy work, capacity-building projects, and other assignments. Each intern receives a Guide or Supervisor who oversees the work and provides guidance throughout the internship.
IICA also runs separate Winter and Summer Cycle Internship Programmes on selected themes. The 2026 Summer Cycle includes streams such as Corporate Governance and Public Policy, Corporate Law and Compliance, CSR and ESG, Finance, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Stipend and Accommodation
IICA provides an honorarium of ₹10,000 per month to interns. Interns must submit their monthly claim to the HR Department with the required recommendation from their supervisor or the relevant IICA vertical.
IICA may also provide rent-free shared accommodation on campus, subject to availability. Interns who use this accommodation receive a consolidated honorarium of ₹5,000 per month. Food expenses remain the intern’s responsibility.
Successful interns receive a certificate. IICA also evaluates interns on research quality, initiative, communication, and professional conduct.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official IICA internship portal. They can also submit Form A with an institutional recommendation through the prescribed email or postal address.
Apply through the official IICA Internship Portal
Students applying through their institution must obtain a recommendation from the Head of the Institution. The recommendation should appear on the institution’s official letterhead and come from its official email address.
Applications sent directly to individual IICA Schools or Centres will not be considered. Candidates should also ensure that their application is complete before submission.
For Form A applications, candidates must include a synopsis of the proposed work of up to 1,000 words. The synopsis should explain the sector, proposed methodology, research issues, and likely outcomes. IICA will decide the final project topic after discussion with the candidate.
Selection Process
The HR Division first checks applications for completeness. The Internal Selection Committee then reviews eligible applications, ordinarily during the first week of each month. The final decision rests with the Director General and CEO of IICA.
During the internship, students submit assignments and project work according to their supervisor’s schedule. They must also submit a draft report before completion and make a presentation before the Internal Selection Committee.
The IICA internship can therefore provide useful exposure to corporate law, policy, governance, insolvency, and regulatory work. For law students interested in government-linked corporate affairs and legal research, it can be a strong addition to their academic and professional experience.
