About the ICPC Internship Program

The ICPC Internship Program is an initiative of the Policy, Politics and Governance Foundation (PPGF) for students interested in policymaking, politics and governance. The programme combines flexible learning with practical exposure to help students understand how political and policy ecosystems work.

The ICPC Internship Program focuses on building skills that students can use when working with political leaders, administrators and organisations involved in policy and political strategy.

The programme also provides access to experienced professionals from the political and policy sectors. Through this mentorship, participants can learn from people who have worked in political and policy consulting across different states.

Another benefit is the growing professional network around the programme. According to the programme information, previous interns have gone on to work with political campaigns and the offices of political and administrative leaders.

Programme Structure and Work Experience

The ICPC Internship Program follows a combination of online learning, in-office experience and mentorship. This structure allows students to first build foundational knowledge and then apply it in a practical setting.

Module 1: Online Training

The programme begins with structured, self-paced online training. Students can learn the basics of policymaking, politics and governance while managing their academic commitments.

This module helps participants develop an understanding of the skills required for work in political and policy environments.

Module 2: In-Office Internship

The second module provides practical exposure through work in political offices and with organisers. Participants can become involved in real-world political strategy-making and gain a closer understanding of how political work operates.

The programme therefore goes beyond a conventional online internship. Students get an opportunity to connect their learning with practical political and policy work.

Mentorship

Participants also receive mentorship from individuals with experience in political and policy consulting across various states. This guidance can help students understand career options and develop practical policymaking and political strategy skills.

Eligibility, Stipend and Duration

The ICPC Internship Program is open to students from all academic backgrounds. However, the programme particularly recommends the opportunity for final-year and penultimate-year students who want to pursue careers in political or policy strategy consulting after graduation.

The programme provides a ₹5,000 lump-sum stipend for the training module. The stipend depends on the completion of assigned tasks. Students can spread these tasks according to their academic commitments.

The expected internship duration is four months, but the period does not have to be continuous. Students can self-pace the programme according to their academic schedules.

The programme allows participants to complete the four-month engagement over a period of up to nine months.

After completing both modules, interns receive a Certificate of Completion from the PPGF.
