About FSSAI
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a statutory body established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It is responsible for food safety and compliance with food standards across India.
About the FSSAI Internship 2026
The FSSAI Internship 2026 will be offered for the October–December 2026 quarter under the FSSAI Internship Scheme 2024. The programme provides learning opportunities in different areas of food regulation and food safety administration.
Eligibility
Candidates must be pursuing a full-time graduate, postgraduate or higher degree from a recognised institution in India or abroad.
For law students:
- Bachelor of Law (LL.B.)
- Master of Law (LL.M.)
The scheme also accepts students from several other disciplines, including business administration, finance, taxation, public policy, public administration, journalism, science, technology and commerce.
Roles and Responsibilities
Interns will be attached to divisions at FSSAI Headquarters, Regional Offices or National Food Laboratories, depending on their academic and technical background.
Assignments will relate to different aspects of Food and Nutrition Management Processes.
For law and allied-field students, the available areas include subjects connected with policy regulation and related administrative functions. However, the selected internship location and specific department are subject to allocation by FSSAI.
Internship Locations
The internship may be offered at:
- FSSAI Headquarters, New Delhi
- Regional Offices: Mumbai, Ghaziabad and Chennai
- National Food Laboratories: Ghaziabad, Kolkata, Raxaul and Chennai
- National Food Laboratory, Mumbai
The areas listed in the application indicate preferences and do not confirm allocation to a particular department.
Stipend
Stipend: ₹10,000 for the whole internship period, subject to the intern being considered deserving. The assessment considers attendance, reporting officer assessment and evaluation of the final report.
Duration: Minimum 2 months; maximum 6 months

Other Requirements
Interns must have their own laptops. FSSAI will provide working space and internet facilities. However, it will not cover local lodging, travel or boarding expenses.
At the time of joining, selected interns must submit an institute letter confirming their student status, a No Objection Certificate, a character certificate and proof of educational qualifications.
Certificate
FSSAI will award an internship certificate after successful completion of the internship and submission and review of the final report or presentation.
