What Is the Central Information Commission Internship?
The Central Information Commission (CIC) has introduced the Central Information Commission Internship Scheme to provide law students with practical exposure to the functioning of India’s apex body responsible for enforcing the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005.
Unlike traditional litigation or corporate internships, this programme focuses on legal research, public administration, and transparency law. Interns work on research projects related to the RTI Act while learning how the Commission adjudicates information-related disputes and promotes accountability in public authorities.

About the Internship
The internship is open throughout the year, subject to the requirements of the Commission. Selected interns receive an opportunity to work with the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), Information Commissioners, or other officers of the Commission.
The internship primarily focuses on research work. Every intern is expected to undertake a research project relating to the Right to Information Act and submit a research paper before completing the internship.
Additionally, interns gain practical insight into the day-to-day functioning of the Central Information Commission while observing how RTI appeals and complaints are handled.

- Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)
- All India Law Entrance Test (AILET)
- Delhi University LL.B. Entrance Examination
- Banaras Hindu University Undergraduate Entrance Test (UET)
- Other recognised law entrance examinations evaluating legal aptitude
This selection process helps the Commission identify candidates with strong legal reasoning and analytical abilities.
