What Is the CCRP Internship?
The Chair on Consumer Research and Policy (CCRP) operates out of the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, established this Chair in October 2024 to build research, teaching, and training specifically around consumer law. This CCRP internship gives law students a genuinely research-heavy, niche opportunity in a subject most internships never touch directly: Consumer Protection Law.
About the Internship
CCRP accepts applications on a rolling, monthly basis, and takes only five interns per month, combining both offline and online slots. Each internship runs for a minimum of 30 working days, starting with a short induction program on Consumer Law provisions on your very first day.
This isn’t a passive research role. CCRP structures the internship around a phased research process: you submit a schematic synopsis of your research early on, move through a literature review and progress updates, deliver a mandatory presentation near the end, and submit a final report incorporating feedback from that presentation. Your internship only counts as complete once you’ve submitted four original pieces of writing on consumer law.
Who Can Apply for the CCRP Internship?
CCRP keeps eligibility open across law degree stages. You’re eligible if you’re:
- In your second or third year of a three-year LLB program, or
- In your second year onward of a five-year integrated law program, or
- Pursuing an LLM

Because this internship centres on independent research and writing, CCRP looks for candidates who bring:

Important Things to Note Before Applying
- This internship is unpaid. CCRP doesn’t offer any honorarium during the internship.
- You’ll need to observe full working hours. The Centre runs Monday to Friday-equivalent full days, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, excluding lunch. Unauthorised absence can extend your internship period, or get it discontinued altogether.
- Confidentiality and IP terms are strict. Anything you produce during the internship becomes CCRP’s intellectual property, published under the Centre’s name. You can’t use your own work independently afterward, and you’re required to maintain confidentiality both during and after the internship.
- Accommodation is your responsibility. CCRP doesn’t arrange stay for interns, though you can approach the Chief Warden of NUSRL’s Halls of Residence for paid accommodation, subject to availability.
- A recommendation letter is mandatory. Once accepted, you’ll need to submit a recommendation from your academic institution (format provided by CCRP) and a signed undertaking, or your application won’t be entertained.
How to Apply for the CCRP NUSRL Ranchi Internship
- Prepare a detailed write-up of approximately 1,000 words on Consumer Protection Laws.
- Email your application, along with that write-up, to ccrp@nusrlranchi.ac.in. CCRP only accepts applications sent this way, in this format.
- Apply at least one month in advance, and clearly mention your desired internship dates.
- If accepted, arrange and submit a recommendation letter from your academic institution, along with the required undertaking, before you join.
