I am a third-year B.Com. LL.B. student from a relatively small law college and do not come from an NLU. I also do not have a strong background in mooting or traditional extracurricular activities.
Recently, I have started actively building my profile through legal writing and publications, particularly in Corporate Law and Intellectual Property Law. My goal now is to secure an internship with a reputed Tier-2 law firm, but I am unsure about how competitive my current profile is and what I should prioritise to improve my chances.
I want to understand what Tier-2 firms actually look for when selecting interns and whether publications, previous internships, mooting, academic performance, or practical legal skills carry more weight. I am also unsure how a student from a non-NLU background can effectively approach firms and lawyers for opportunities without relying heavily on personal connections.
As a non-NLU student without a strong moot court or extracurricular background, what should I focus on developing over the next 6–12 months to make my profile competitive for Corporate/IP internships at reputed Tier-2 law firms?
