I am a first-generation law student pursuing a B.A. LL.B. from Punjabi University, Patiala, and I have recently completed my third year. During my initial years in law school, I did not have much exposure to the legal industry or guidance regarding career opportunities. As a result, I have not yet undertaken any physical internships or court visits.
I am now interested in building a career in corporate and commercial law, particularly in law firms, in-house legal teams, and transactional work. However, I often feel that I am behind my peers who have already completed multiple internships and built strong professional networks.
At this stage of law school, what should be my priorities if I want to build a strong profile for corporate law roles? Which skills, internships, experiences, and networking efforts should I focus on over the next 12–18 months to maximize my chances of securing opportunities in this field?
