Selected interns will therefore need to undertake the internship in person rather than remotely.
Eligibility Criteria
Bonafide students of recognised universities or institutions in India and abroad can apply, subject to the eligibility requirements of the scheme.
Undergraduate students must have completed or appeared in the term-end examinations of the second year or fourth semester of their bachelor’s degree. They must also have secured at least 85% or equivalent marks in Class 12.
Postgraduate students must have completed or appeared in the term-end examinations of the first year or second semester of their postgraduate programme. Research scholars and PhD students can also apply, provided they have secured at least 70% or equivalent marks in graduation.
Students who have appeared for their final examination or recently completed graduation or postgraduate studies may also receive consideration. However, they must have secured 70% or more cumulative marks across all years or semesters of their graduation or postgraduate programme up to the date of application.
In addition, the period between the declaration of the final examination result and the desired month of internship must not exceed six months. For example, if a candidate’s final result is declared in June, the candidate can apply for an internship beginning up to December.

Location
The NITI Aayog Internship 2026 will be based in New Delhi.

Duration
The internship will run for at least six weeks and can extend up to six months.
However, interns must complete the requisite internship period to receive a certificate. Candidates who do not complete the required period will not receive an internship certificate.
