smallcase, one of India’s leading fintech companies, is inviting applications for a Legal Intern to join its Legal & Compliance Team in Bengaluru. The internship offers law students an opportunity to work at the intersection of law, finance, technology, and regulation while supporting the legal operations of a rapidly growing financial technology company.

Unlike traditional legal internships that focus primarily on drafting or litigation, this role gives interns practical exposure to financial regulations, capital markets, compliance, and technology-driven legal issues. If you’re interested in fintech, corporate law, or regulatory practice, this internship provides valuable real-world experience.

About the Internship

smallcase is looking for sharp, curious, and research-oriented law students who enjoy analysing complex legal issues and understanding how regulations apply to innovative financial products.

As part of the Legal & Compliance team, interns will contribute to ongoing business initiatives while helping the company stay compliant with evolving regulatory requirements. Since smallcase operates in the capital markets sector and is expanding into banking, insurance, and global financial products, interns will work on legal issues that directly support business growth.

The internship is full-time and runs during August and September 2026 from the company’s Bengaluru office.

What Kind of Work Can You Expect?

During the internship, selected candidates will work on:

  • Tracking regulatory updates issued by SEBI, RBI, IRDAI, and IFSCA
  • Reviewing SEBI and SAT orders to identify emerging legal trends
  • Conducting detailed legal and regulatory research
  • Preparing comparison tables to analyse legislative developments
  • Performing gap analysis between internal policies and new regulations
  • Supporting regulatory mapping for new product features
  • Assisting with commercial legal contracts and documentation

One of the biggest advantages of this internship is its focus on regulatory intelligence. Instead of working only on legal research, interns learn how legal teams help businesses adapt to changing regulations while supporting innovation in financial services.

Who Should Apply?

The internship is open to law students who have:

  • Strong legal research and interpretation skills
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking ability
  • An interest in financial regulation and emerging technologies
  • A willingness to work in a fast-paced business environment

Candidates who enjoy analysing complex regulations and understanding their commercial impact are likely to benefit the most from this opportunity.

Additionally, applicants should be available for a full-time internship during August and September 2026.

What Will You Learn?

smallcase considers interns an important part of its Legal & Compliance team. Throughout the internship, students will work directly with experienced legal professionals while learning how legal advice supports business strategy.

By the end of the programme, interns can expect to develop:

  • Advanced legal research skills
  • Better regulatory interpretation
  • Commercial awareness
  • Contract drafting experience
  • Practical knowledge of fintech regulation
  • A stronger understanding of India’s financial regulatory ecosystem

This combination of legal and business exposure makes the internship particularly valuable for students planning careers in fintech, financial regulation, corporate law, or in-house legal teams.

Why Join smallcase?

Founded in 2015, smallcase has become one of India’s leading investment technology companies, serving more than 10 million investors through its investment platforms. The company partners with over 300 financial institutions and leading financial brands, making it one of the country’s most recognised fintech businesses.

Interning at a high-growth company like smallcase allows students to understand how legal teams support innovation while managing regulatory compliance in one of India’s fastest-growing industries.

Interested candidates can apply through the official LinkedIn job posting.

Before applying, make sure you have:

  • An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Your academic details
  • Previous internship experience (if any)

Since the internship has already attracted significant interest, candidates should submit their applications as early as possible to improve their chances of being shortlisted.

This internship is completely free to apply for. Genuine employers never charge candidates an application or internship fee. Therefore, if anyone asks you to make a payment in exchange for an internship opportunity, treat it as fraudulent.
