The NUJS SIBRL Call for Blogs invites students, researchers, academics, legal practitioners and insolvency professionals to write on contemporary issues in insolvency, bankruptcy and restructuring law. The Society for Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Restructuring Laws (SIBRL), NUJS, is accepting submissions on a rolling basis, so contributors can submit their work throughout the year.

The call covers issues under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC) as well as wider developments in insolvency and restructuring law. Contributors can examine recent legal developments, unresolved questions, practical challenges and possible reforms.

About NUJS

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), also known as NLU Kolkata, is a National Law University located in Bidhannagar, Kolkata, West Bengal.

NUJS is known for its legal education, research and academic activities. The university also hosts several student-led societies and initiatives that encourage students to engage with contemporary legal issues.

About SIBRL

The Society for Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Restructuring Laws (SIBRL) is a student-led academic initiative at NUJS. The Society focuses on insolvency, bankruptcy and restructuring laws and seeks to encourage discussion in this developing area of law.

SIBRL provides a platform for students, academics, practitioners and other stakeholders to exchange ideas. It conducts publications, events and other academic activities related to insolvency law.

The Society also encourages contributors to examine both established legal principles and emerging questions within India’s developing insolvency ecosystem.

Call for Blog Submissions

Through this NUJS SIBRL Call for Blogs, the Society invites original submissions dealing with contemporary issues in insolvency, bankruptcy and restructuring law.

The call comes as the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 completes ten years since its enactment. During this period, amendments, regulatory changes, judicial decisions and developments in practice have shaped India’s insolvency framework.

However, contributors do not need to limit their submissions to the ten-year journey of the IBC. They can write about any contemporary issue concerning the IBC or the wider insolvency and restructuring framework.

SIBRL particularly welcomes articles that examine recent developments, critically assess the existing framework or suggest possible ways forward for Indian insolvency law.

Possible Areas for Submission

Contributors can explore a wide range of topics related to insolvency, bankruptcy and restructuring. Some suggested areas include:

  • Recent judicial, legislative and regulatory developments under the IBC.
  • Emerging or unsettled questions in insolvency jurisprudence.
  • The evolution of the IBC during its first decade.
  • Lessons from the implementation of the IBC.
  • Challenges in the corporate insolvency resolution process and liquidation.
  • The effectiveness of the IBC in achieving its objectives.
  • Cross-border insolvency and restructuring.
  • Sector-specific issues in insolvency resolution.
  • The roles and responsibilities of creditors, resolution applicants, promoters and insolvency professionals.
  • Insolvency financing, distressed assets and restructuring.
  • The relationship between insolvency law and corporate or commercial law.
  • Comparative and international developments that have relevance for India.
  • Potential reforms and the future direction of India’s insolvency framework.

These topics are only indicative. Contributors can also submit articles on other significant and contemporary issues involving the IBC, insolvency, bankruptcy or restructuring.

SIBRL encourages writers to go beyond simply describing the law. Strong submissions should offer original, critical and accessible analysis of current developments and legal debates.

Who Can Submit?

The NUJS SIBRL Call for Blogs is open to a broad range of contributors. Students, researchers, academics, legal practitioners and insolvency professionals can submit their work.

Other individuals with an interest in insolvency, bankruptcy and restructuring law can also contribute.

The opportunity can therefore suit law students who want to develop their legal writing and research profile, as well as professionals and academics who want to contribute to discussions in insolvency law.

Deadline

There is no fixed deadline for this call.

SIBRL accepts submissions on a rolling basis. Contributors can therefore submit their blogs when they have a suitable piece ready for consideration.

Submission Guidelines

Authors should consult the SIBRL Submission Policy before submitting their work. The policy contains the detailed requirements relating to word limit, formatting, citations, authorship and other submission requirements.

Contributors should ensure that their articles meet the Society’s requirements before sending them for consideration.

Co-authorship is permitted for up to two authors per blog.

Writers should also focus on producing original and well-researched analysis. A submission should offer a clear perspective rather than simply summarising existing provisions or developments.

Submission Procedure

Interested contributors must send their submissions to the SIBRL email address:

Email: sibrl@nujs.edu

Since the Society accepts articles on a rolling basis, contributors can submit their work without waiting for a specific submission window.

Before sending the article, authors should review the SIBRL Submission Policy and ensure that the submission follows the required formatting, citation and authorship rules.
