I am considering pursuing a postgraduate law degree, particularly an LL.M., from a university in the UK or US. However, I am confused about how much value such a degree actually adds to a legal career after returning to India.

A lot of students consider an LL.M. from a foreign university to be a strong addition to their profile, but I am not sure whether it actually improves their chances of getting good jobs or better opportunities. I also don’t want to make a significant investment in an overseas degree if it will have very little impact on my career prospects.

How valuable is an LL.M. from a good UK or US university when it comes to getting legal jobs, particularly in India? Does it meaningfully improve career opportunities, and are there particular circumstances in which pursuing an LL.M. abroad is actually worth it?
