CLAT PG 2027 Exam Pattern
The CLAT PG paper consists of 120 objective-type questions carrying one mark each. The examination is of two hours and carries negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
The paper is designed around comprehension and application of legal knowledge, rather than simply testing rote memorisation.
CLAT PG 2027 Syllabus
The syllabus covers the mandatory subjects generally studied during an LL.B. programme. Major areas include:
- Constitutional Law
- Jurisprudence
- Administrative Law
- Law of Contract
- Torts
- Family Law
- Criminal Law
- Property Law
- Company Law
- Public International Law
- Tax Law
- Environmental Law
- Labour and Industrial Law
The official syllabus states that questions may be based on extracts from judgments, statutes and regulations, requiring candidates to comprehend the material, identify legal issues and apply relevant legal principles.

CLAT PG 2027 Admit Card
The admit card will be made available through the candidate’s account on the Consortium website. The exact release date has not been specified in the current official instructions, so candidates should rely on the Consortium’s subsequent notification rather than an estimated date.
CLAT PG 2027 Results and Counselling
After the examination, candidates should monitor the Consortium portal for the answer key, results and counselling notifications. The counselling process generally involves registration, fee payment, submission of NLU preferences, seat allotment and completion of admission formalities.
The Consortium also states that information regarding intake, reservation, courses and fee structures should be checked in the individual NLU information brochures before candidates make their choices.
CLAT PG 2027 Participating NLUs
The Consortium currently provides information for 26 participating National Law Universities, with details regarding their programmes and admission requirements available through the official CLAT portal.
Candidates should check individual NLU brochures because seat intake, reservation policies, specialisations and fee structures can differ between universities.
How to Prepare for CLAT PG 2027?
A practical preparation strategy should focus on:
- Reading the syllabus and understanding the major areas of law.
- Revising core concepts from undergraduate law subjects.
- Reading important judgments and statutory provisions.
- Practising questions based on legal passages.
- Solving previous-year CLAT PG papers.
- Taking timed mock tests and analysing mistakes.
- Revising regularly rather than relying on last-minute preparation.
Since the official examination places emphasis on comprehension and application of legal materials, candidates should practise reading and analysing judgments and statutory provisions, rather than depending entirely on memorised notes.
CLAT PG 2027 Answer Key and Objection Window
The Consortium will provide examination-related updates, including the answer key and any applicable objection process, through the official CLAT portal. Candidates should follow the notification issued for the particular examination rather than relying on dates from previous CLAT cycles.
CLAT PG 2027 Cut Offs
There is no single fixed CLAT PG cut-off for every NLU. Admission depends on factors such as candidate rank, category, NLU preference, seat availability and the particular admission round.
Previous-year cut-offs can be useful for estimating competitiveness, but they should not be treated as guaranteed CLAT PG 2027 cut-offs.
Documents Required During CLAT PG Admission
Candidates should keep their academic and category documents ready for the admission process. Depending on the NLU, these may include:
- CLAT scorecard/rank card
- LL.B. degree or provisional degree
- LL.B. mark sheets
- Category certificate, where applicable
- PwD/BPL certificates, where applicable
- Identity proof
- Photographs
- Other documents prescribed by the allotted NLU
The Consortium specifically requires relevant certificates to be produced as prescribed for admission and advises candidates to check the respective NLU’s requirements.
