I am interested in starting research and writing research papers, but I honestly don’t know where to begin. I have read a few papers and articles, but I am finding it difficult to understand how students actually go from having an idea to producing a well-researched paper that is good enough to be published.
I am particularly confused about how to identify a worthwhile research topic, structure and conduct the research, and improve the quality of the final paper. I also don’t know how students should identify suitable journals or platforms for publication or how to judge whether a journal is actually worth submitting to.
As someone who is relatively new to legal research, what would be the best way to start writing research papers, and should I initially work with a professor or experienced researcher, or is it realistic to learn and do the process independently?
